Day 49- Doctors - Bad News

Man this has not been my lucky year so far.

I'll start with showing you the progression of this week--

I'm sorry how nasty all of these are. The one from today is just so gross because we didn't wipe it off before taking the photo. the other ones had drainage also...

The good news? The culture came back and it didn't grow any bacteria! so.. NOT INFECTED.

you  might be asking... WHAT? at this point. Yes that's right this is not an infection. Now this is where the hard part comes in. Without the X-ray it's hard to explain what's happening. I guess when they put the bone graft in they also put bone Chips around and underneath to help it grow in everywhere. Well apparently the stuff coming out is the bone chips. YUCK right? yeah... So what's the solution?

SURGERY.

That's right this Friday little Kristy gets to go in For surgery. what the paper said i'm getting done:

.Incision and Drainage of Abcess
.Hardware Removal

In non-doctors terms.. Going in and cleaning it out then also removing the Plate and Screws (hardware). Up side i'll see if it's worth removing the plate. Other upside I'll get to keep the plate.. down side? well Obviously will have at least 2 weeks after Friday of no weight bearing... if the incision again fails to close up we will have to move on to other methods of healing. They wont have to go in and do surgery again though.

.. So today is the 7th week mark of no walking.. Friday will be 8 weeks then two more weeks is a total of 10 weeks not walking.. not walking in the BOOT mind you not walking on my own. so still going to be on crutches.. for at LEAST that long.. possibly longer.

not looking forward to this but you do what is going to be best for you right?... I feel like crying but haven't yet.

There was one other thing that's good news. The major bone part has healed well so that's why they are able to remove the plate without any problem. We have to remove the plate because if we continue to have problems we don't want it to possibly get infected underneath.

Well.. as I said before this didn't happen at all last time I had this surgery done on my Right foot. However, Be prepared.
