It wasn't a long procedure only about 30 min plus wake up time and also check in time. I got there at 6am and checked in then around 7 I had the IV put in. The nurse did a great job with that didn't even hurt at all this time! last time it was insanely bruised.
So the doctor had my come into his office on Thursday the day before surgery. Told me that he would really like to just open up the little part of the incision that's not healing and just clean that part out. Mean that he wasn't sure if he was going to remove the plate or not. Just because the whole point of this surgery is to get the incision to close.
Which, made me a little frustrated because I just don't like going into something unsure of what's going to happen. Either way I just want to get better and heal up. So I got the surgery and all went well. He said he could get the plate out without having to open the cut up too much more. Which i'm happy about because I really want to know if it'd be worth it to get the plate removed on my other foot some day. I was also told that my doctor kept the plate for me and I'll receive it at his office.
now on to recovery... PAIN.. seriously hurts so much. i'd say i'm pretty close to a ten.. in fact i'm pretty sure I'm at a ten. I'm hoping it's just sensitive to being washed out. the doctor described the tool he uses as a "squirt gun." Which gives me some silly imagery about a kids toy... Most likely though my insides didn't like being pounded by water.. so i'm hoping the pain will ease soon.. but the nerves seemed highly agitated last night and was pretty bad.. I'm not excited about having to re open anything.. but i'm just hopeful that everything will go smooth. but i'm still not 100% sure it will close up without further help..
that's all i have for today.. i'm glad I could go through this if not for me but to help others who will be experiencing this also. Oh and the stuff he had to clean out was called "bone puddy" just goopy liquid with bone chips in it.
