So Friday I had surgery woohoo. Not.
I was getting the hardware removed from my First surgery which I haven't actually written about on here. It is the hardware that they put in for the calcaneal osteotomy so it fits this blog quite nicely for anyone looking for information with these surgeries.
This foot was done 1 year and 3 months ago. Crazy. By this point I was supposed to be back to or pretty close to "normal" whatever that word means. I was still having a ridiculous amount of pain on this foot when my left foot hardly bothers me. So they concluded that it was my Hardware causing me the pain by moving.
So Friday we went in to get it removed. When I woke up the doctor told me how it went. We found out that the hardware was not moving and that my body was actually Digesting the Titanium plate and screws. Hard core right there... hahah. He did conclude that this would have cuased me a great deal of pain because my body would have been working pretty dang hard to get rid of it. It also had actually broken down the Titanium . So crazy..
Then he went on to say that the bone actually hadn't healed the whole way. That half of the graft had connected to the bone with bone but the other half had only connected with a tissue of sorts. So he removed the tissue cleaned out the areas and put in... dun dun dun BONE PUDDY....
If you have been following pretty closely with this blog you would know that Bone Puddy is what my last doctor in Utah thought was draining out of my Left foot... and then I had a surgery to clean out and remove the hardware.. then continued to have an open wound for 5 or so months...
The last thing he told me is that I will be in the walking boot for two weeks.. Neither of us really were expecting what happened to happen so we didn't ask why I need to be in the walking boot.. but I do.
So now I'm just extremely nervous my body will reject the bone puddy and i'll have to get another surgery to clean that out.. and I also am dreading wearing the boot... Yesterday was a hard day fro me... I hate feeling like there isn't an end in sight.
