I needed to update this blog so I figured I'd just do that instead of rambling on another blog about how I'm struggling with deciding what to do.. In the sense of my "future." Before getting foot surgery It may be best to have a more stable job/life path then maybe I did.. I don't know if I would have gotten there soon enough. I am grateful I'm doing this now instead of having these problems later.. but boy is it hard.
So I got my stitches out and NOTHING opened up. Still scabby so I personally haven't gotten it wet in the shower. That's only because I'm semi paranoid from what happened before... I want to see pink fresh skin before trickling water on it. However, it seems to be on the right path..
I did get some more information slightly about my bone on my RIGHT foot (man right left right left this is confusing i'm sure). This is the foot that I JUST had hardware removed from.. The bone apparently is in worse shape then my left foot... He mentioned that if I had a bad sprain or twist it wrong I am in HUGE danger of snapping the bone.. YIKES.. not something you want to hear...
He wanted me in the boot for 3 more weeks.. lets just say my face dropped.. and then he was like "She has a reaction to everything doesn't she?" to clayton... Well yeah I hate the boot I'm super prone to heat rashes and my skin gets extremely irritated.. I'm sorry but I don't think ANYONE I've EVER talked to has enjoyed wearing a walking boot... Sooo clayton (my husband) being detached from the emotional side thought to ask "Can she just wear a heavy duty ankle brace" which he said "that should be fine we just don't want it twisting."
This is the ankle brace we have (click here):
It has bars in the sides and seems to work pretty well. I bought it for my left foot because being in the boot with how weak my left foot is really put a lot of strain on it. So that was one of the main reasons I asked to just wear this. That way my feet would at least be level! I'll let you know in a few more days how that's doing. My left foot is still hurting a lot from the two weeks of having to Hobble with the boot.
Next visit I should be getting some more answers... I hope so at least! He's going to take X-Rays of both feet and see how the bones are doing... lets hope good. Who knows. I feel as if I'm not sure when this will be over. Bone healing isn't an easy process... so I'll keep you up to date.

DeleteI'm so sorry you have had foot issues as well through out your life. This is a hard surgery to undergo but I really appreciate you comment and your time in reading my blog. That does mean a lot to me and I really do hope it helps people.
Best of wishes for you. If you have any concerns or questions let me know! I hope the 6 weeks have gone well for you and that it is healing as it should be! Good luck in either starting to put weight on it or continuing to do so. I know how scary it is to start walking after such a long period of not doing so.
